Present—Messrs Daxbury (Chairman), "*Williamß, : and-Curry. ; The minutes of the. last meeting were read and confirmed. OOBBESPONDENOE. v From the Treasury, notifying that the sum of £653 8s 6d, being the share of £2275 18s 5d at, credit of the County of Akaroa, had been placed to the credit of the Board. From Messrs Thornton and Bull re their account for district ,map. ~.,.,,. From Mr G: Odell, stating that a 8 Mr E. Lelievre was' about to fenoe in the road leading to his property, he wanted the Clerk to inspect the locality, when he would see the inconvenience complained of. From B. EL Ehodes, Esq., with reference to the road diversion through his property •in Wainui, saying that he should have liked to have a rough tracing of the work. The Clerk was instructed to furnish a tracing when the survey was made. • Frcm Mr J. Lelievre, calling attention to the necessity for finishing the remainder of the Long Bay road from the saddle to Mr F. Lelievre's station. From Mr GL Breitmeyer, stating that he fgas agreeable to take the sum of £30 for lie land required, as delineated by Mr Fenton's plan of the Horseshoe Bend road "*div€reion, the Board to allow him to fence in the old piece of the road, and, should anyone interfere with the fence, to protect him as far as they had the power. If the •►Board accepted these terms they might call for tenders for the work at once. He also agreed to erect the fence alongside the new road provided the Board would give him the fencing erected as a protection to

the gully. The Clerk was instructed to call for tenders, and write to Mr Breitmeyer, accepting his terms. From the Oxford, Kakanui, Lincoln, South Orari, Port Victoria, and Geraldine Eoad Boards, agreeing to the terms of the Board's circular re land endowments. Mr Williams thought a Conference of

The Chairman was of opinion that the replies to the circular from the various Boards should be sent to Mr Montgomery, and that he be asked to frame a Bill in accordance with them.

It was finally decided that the Clerk forward a copy of the circular to Mr Montgomery, asking him whether he would take charge of a Bill in terms of the circular for presentation to the Assembly, and acquainting him with the:favorable replies received £ from the -various Road Boards,. , . ■ ' RETURN OF- COMPENSATIONS.

TENDERS. FOB fiUBVEY. H. H. Fenton — Contract for survey •work, grading, and specifications, at £400 for twelve months, not to be debarred from private work if there was any epare time at his disposal. ■ . ; ; ; . • W. D. iWilkin—Contract for the Board's work at two guineas a day. Mr Williams proposed, seconded by Mr Curry, that Mr Fenton's-offer at £400 be accepted, subject to three months' notice on either side for a termination of the agreement, and provided that he superintend the work while in progress. In consequence of the failure of the election of this date it was resolved to advertise for a fresh election, to be held on the 3rd pros. ; The Clerk was instructed to- write to the Chairman of the County Council to the effect that as the Mount Bossu work will be put in hand forthwith, the Board wished the money ip hand for that road to be placed to the crsdit of the Board.
