'. "From Mr P. Sorendon, of Little River-,-- ; requesting payment for two gates oon- , structed by. him for the pound, and threat- . ening legal proceedings in case his demand was hot com|)ii-d with. Akaroa and Wainui Road Board;" the object of the circular bVlo|* to advocate the acquirement %f land fe'nilowinents for local bodies, and the setting .forth of the advantages to be derived hereafter when Government subsidies should cease,, and aaking for the cooperation of' this -'Board, and others, in securing the sanction of the General Assemblyto the proposal. ; The Clerk reported having renewed the msutiEHice on the office and stable; also, that he had insured four Government cot*' tages situate in the r disirict. Mr. Barnett's drainage was ordered, to be " reported oni at the next meeting.y It was' resolved to invite tenders for ' -letting out Lake EUesmere; also, for quarrying and breaking 1000 cubic yards of road metal on the Ahuriri joad diversion. % With reference to the suggestion of the Akaroa and Wainui Road Board, relative to* the Road Board endowments, the Board -was of opinion, that it would be inadvisable to affirm the pnncsple of land endowments for road maintenance, or public t in general, tbere being already, as far as the Little River district is concerned a land locked up in reserves WMc.bcbntributeS' nothing ,to the'public account. .
