Regarding delayed telegrams, an order in Council. is published, which states that the new Regulation shall take •effect and remain. In. force for three months from and after July'l. All telegrams presented for transmission under this regulation must have the: the-head'j of "instructions," when presented;; otherwise they -dllhe. treated as ordinary' t^^ramS."
Government have resolved to pay over at once to the , Canterbury Road Boards the amount of surplus land fund to which they are legally entitled. The non-raising of the loan was the cause of the delay - ,- .
It is stated that a circular has been forwarded from, the Colonial Education Department to the various Education Boards throughout the Colony intimating that the payments already made to the Education Boards within the current financial year have very largely exceeded the amount voted by Parliament for Education for the entire year, and that although the vote for unauthorised expenditure has been .largely drawn upon 'by the Department it has been found impossible, to • get ithe boards' June accounts- passed for'payments out of this year's . approprjation. Any further payments due to tbe respective Boards in respect of grants for the current financial year consequently will have to stand over until after July 1.
A Gazette extraordinary just igsued contains a proclamation calling Parliament together .for despatch of business on Friday July 26 next. -THE MAILS. The City of New York, which left Auckland on May 28, with the May Colonial mails for London, arrived at San Francisco on Wednesday last, one day in advance of her due date.
