OKAIN'S ROAD BOARD.
A special meeting of this Board was held in the -Little Akaloa Hotel on Saturday, 15th inst., at noon, all. the members being present.
The Chairman (Mr J. B. Barker), on rising, stated'that the meeting was convened to discuss certain clauses in the fencing ordinance, and asked the meeting to consider.the 30th clause.
After some discussion it was proposed by Mr Jonas Pawson, seconded by Mr Sefton, that a substantial fence be not less that 4 feet high and to consist of three rails, at a distance "between the rails, or between the rails and the ground, of not more than 10 inches oii ah average, and
the posts not more than 8 feet 6 inches assunder. Carried.
Proposed by Mr Boleyn, seconded by Mr Callaghan, that they work under the old English maxim-—that is, each party to fence, so as to keep their own stock on their own property. Carried. Proposed by Mr Boleyn, seconded by Mr Pawson, that the Ist clause, in schedule B be struck out, and Mr Pawson's proposition be inserted instead. Carried.
Proposed by Mr Boleyn, seconded by .Mr Callaghan, that the Chairman attend the County Council conference meeting to be held in Christchurch, on June 20th, and use his best endeavours respecting the the fencing ordinance, in accordance with the above propositions. Carried. The Board then adjourned.
