It is probable that the British ironclad squadron will retire to Besica Bay and the Russian troops to Dedegatch, near Adrianople, as a prelude to Congress. St. Petersburg, May 31. Three German ironclads were proceeding to Gibraltar, and two of them collided this morning off Folkestone. One sank, supposed to bo the Konig Wilhelm, of 400 persons about 18 were saved. | In the match between the Australian Eleven and Yorkshire the first innings of the Australians closed for 118, and the second innings of Yorkshire for 83. The Australians in their second innings have two out for 5. (SPECIAL TO THE WELLINGTON POST.) May 81. A terrible collision has just occurred between three German ironclad ships of wai off Folkestone. One sank immediately, and the others are sinking. Of the crew of the sunken ship fully 450 men were drowned, and probably many more. The preliminaries of the European Congress have nov? been definitely settled. A prolonged peace is regarded as certain. Russia and England are considered to have arrived at a complete agreement. Juno 1 The question is decided. Schouvaloff advises British Government to delay issue, and invites Andrassy, who has declared, notwithstanding Russia's explanations, that her views are still divergent to Germany. An ironclad squadron is going from Plymouth to Gibraltar. It is probable that Disraeli will attend the Congress.
