Sir, —Being unavoidably absent from the. public meeting held in the.Town Hall, on- Moii.d iy, May '10, I was unable to defend individually, and also some 'members of the Fhifincc Committee from the gross rharges nmde liy Or Billt-ns at the above meeting—l allude'to the alleged "cooking of accounts" l>y the members of the said Committee. : 1 now wish, Sir, through your columns t<> requester Billens to be in his seat at the Council Chambers next Wednesday evening, when I shall be prepared to explain the report adopted by the Finance Committee both to the Council and to the public generally. I shall also expect Or Billens to give his reasons for making the extraordinary statements he has made use of. Yours, &c, C. W. BRIDGE.
