X ALEXANDER INNES I_, McGREGOR, Returning Officer for the Borough of Akaroa, hereby give notice, that in conformity with the provisions of '* The Municipal Corporations Act, 1876," and "The Regulation of Local Elections Act, 1876," an ELECTION will be held at the offices of the Akaroa Borough Council, on SATURDAY, the 25th day of May, current, for the purpose of electing a Councillor in the room of Mr H. Wagstaff, resigned, thereby causing an extraordinary vacancy. PURSUANT to clause 140 and subsections 1, 2, and 3 of the "Municipal Corporations' Act, 1876," Notice is hereby given, that the Akaroa Borough Council propose to borrow the the sum of £3000 sterling, by way of a special loan, of which the principal and interest shall be secured on the general Rates of the Borough, for the purpose of erecting Bridges, Re-grading and Metalling Streets, Sewage Works, and erecting Public Baths.
