AKAROA RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
Tuesday, May 7.
(Before H. H. Fenton, Esq., J.P., and
His Worship the Mayor.) Civil Case.
Aiming v. Trigg.—Claim for £5, value of a dog. This case was somewhat mixed. It appeared that defendant was the owner of a lady-dog, wfiilo plaintiff possessed a promising pup. Defendant, fancying the latter animal, a "swap "was mutually agreed on, defendant receiving the custody of the pup for the purpose of his education, and retaining his own dog to assist in"the process. According to defendant's account, however, the young gentleman, whether from idleness or innate stupidity, turned out quite worthless, and defendant cried off his bargain, at the same time selling his own dog. Plaintiff refused to take the intractable pup back, and now sued to recover the value of the animal sold, which he considered his property.
The case was adjourned till Friday, May 10.
