DISGRACEFUL CONDUCT.

To the Editor of the Akaroa Mail.

Sis, —There are youths in Akaroa who seem in a fair way to "earn an unenviable notoriety. They are to'"be found wherever anything mischievous is done. If, however, they do not find themselves mistaken some of these days, I shall be surprised. If anything could restrain the larrikin spirit, it ought surely to be tbe sacredness of the Day and House of God ; they are, therefore, pretty callous who can indulge their disgraceful pranks, not only on "the Lord's Day, but even in His House. Last Sunday, some boys, who are in the habit of attending the Presbyterian Sunday School, and others who are not, thought nothing could be more agreeable than to try the strength of a new patent handle on the church door—some inside the church, others result being that, by sheer force, the handle was literallywrenched off and broken. The parts were coolly hung up on the key, for the Superintendent of the Sunday School to find when he went to open the school. Of course no one knew anything of the affair, when questioned. But murder will out, and so will even wicked boys be sooneror later caught. In this case, the perpetrators are knewn, and if the Financial Committee of the Church do not summons allconcerned, it can only be out of respect for the parents arid tenderness towards the boys. The damage done, if very considerable, but this is only tne crowning point of damages suffered to pass for years. It is just time that some of these youths were pulled up, and that they found by experience that they shall not indulge their frolics at others' expense with impunity. There is a general complaint that some of the youths of Akaroa are becoming thorough nuisances, and some of these were engaged in the disgraceful conduct of yesterday. Yours, &c, A YOUTHS'WELL WISHER. Akaroa, April 29.
