ONUKU ROAD DIVERSION.

To the Editor of the Akaroa Mail.

Sib, —I am sorry to have to take up your time and space, but there are things that cannot be passed unnoticed. I wish to draw your attention to a letter from Mr John Glynan (see your issue of the 2nd inst.) to the Akaroa and Wainui Road Board, wherein he stated that on the 24th Feb. I asked him for a few lines in order to give me time to finish my Wainui contract, so that the.Board might have no pull upon me in my then present contract, and further assuring the Board that he had in no •way impeded the contractor. Now, Sir, allow me to state that Mr Glynan's statement is not truth, for I finished my contract on the 22nd February last, just three days before the date that he says I asked for a few lines, &c. I had five men working on the Job, and they can all prove that my Btatem__t |s correct —that my contract was completed _» the 22nd February last. ;?*^'i-_m'^OT'rprii^''. ; , _t'''tlie Board's believing such stuff a_ Mr Glynatfs letter, for the Board must have known at the time, by a letter from me, dated 23rd February, that I had finished my contract, by my asking the Board to give me the Wainui bridge and approaches just to keep my men going for a week till the Board might come to an arrangement with Mr Glynan. And as for Mr Glynan's not having impeded me, black and white is sufficient to prove that.—Yours, &c, J. VANGIONI.
