STOCK AND STATIONS.
Sheep. — Being a large over-supply there was a drop in prices in most cases equal to Is per head for fat sheep, and the market fluctuated considerable through the day's sales ; mutton may be quoted at from to lid per lb.
Beef was also in over-supply. It- "an be quoted only at 35s for top quality, with downward prices to 22s for useful cattle for home consumption. Stoke Sheep.—A large number yarded, chiefly old merino ewes, which found buyers at from Is 6d to 4s 3d, according to condition. Good cross-bred lambs readily found buyers up to 7s 3d ; crossbreds ewes for breeding up to 8s 3d. Store Cattle.—A large number were brought forward, the bulk of which were placed at reduced prices. Some lines of extra good bullocks were passed in, vendors not being disposed to accept the reductiou. Potatoes.—There is a very limited demand for potatoes, altough the price is 455. If sellers pressed sales a concession in price would have to be made. Butter.—The market is very ciull with little or no business doing. Purchases could easily be made at 8d per lb for potted butter, in good condition.
