AKAROA LICENSING COURT.
Friday March 19th,
(Before Justin Ayhner, Esq. (Chairman), E.C. Latter, Esq., and W. G.lnman, Esq., Commissioners.) The only application before the Court was one from J. S. Thacker for a license for a house at Okain's Bay. Mr Nalder appeared for the applicant, and handed in a memorial numerously signed by residents in the district in favor of the license being granted. The Police offered no opposition, Sergeant Ramsay stating that the house was well built, though not quite finished. Stabling would, however, be required. The Court granted the license from the Ist April next, conditionally on a iivestall stable and a stockyard being erected at once. The Court instructed the Police to caution the licensee of the hotel at Pigeon Bay that unless a marked improvement took place in the way the house was conducted, there would be a great risk of the license being refused on the next application. They also intimated that the house at Little Akaloa was in a very dilapidated state, and must be greatly improved, or it was probable that a like result would follow. The Court then adjourned.
