ROBINSON'S BAY SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

A meeting of this Committee was held on Monday evening, 4th March. Present—Messrs W. Whitfield, (Chairman,) H. Sager, J. Gundy, sen., S. Curry, T. S. Johnson, J. Gundy, jun.

From the schoolmaster, applying for a cupboard to be placed in the dwellinghouse, and asking that, as he had successfuly passed his examination, the Committee would get his appointment confirmed • also, applying for leave to close the school for two days. Resolved that the Chairman get an estimate of the cost of the erection of a cupboard for the master's house, and apply to the Board for the cost, and, if granted, that the Chairman should procure the same. The Chairman was directed to write to the Board to confirm Mr Victor's appointment, and it was resolved that the school be closed on Friday, the Bth, and Monday the 11th of March, and that the same be deducted from the usual holidays. The Chairman was instructed lo inform the master that no horses or cattle would be allowed in the school ground, and to ask Mr Victor to inform all visitors of the same, as the trees plantedwere likely to be damaged. The Chairman was directed to procure a supply of stationery for the use of the Committee. By the request of the Committee, the Chairman read from section 89 to 96 of the Education Act, and after considerable discussion, the Committee unanimously agreed to bring the compulsory clauses into force, and authorised the Chairman to see them carried out. The following accounts were passed for payment:—Whitcombe Temperton, for maps and school books, &c, £2 15s 5d ; towels and rollers, 13s ; advertising, 12s. The Chairman was directed to procure a small tub and soap for the use of the school children, and the meeting was then adjourned.
