AKAROA BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The Council met at their offices on Wednesday, March 6. Present—His Worship the Mayor, Crs Waeckerle, Sunckell, Cullen, Penlington, and Meech. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. correspondence. A letter was read from the Engineer, on the subject of his account, explaining the charges therein made, and proposing to submit the disputed items to arbitration. After considerable discussion, it was resolved that the Council adhere to the resolution passed at the previous meeting. A letter was received from the Treasury, Wellington, stating that the sum of £1 10s had been paid to the credit of the Council, on the subsidy account, and the Clerk was instructed to acknowledge receipt of the same. Circulars were also received from the Treasury, bearing on "The Financial Arrangements Act, 1876." Also, one from the Fidelity and Accident Guaranty Company, of New Zealand. payment. J. L. Manning's account for maintenance of lamps, amounting to £11, was passed for payment. appointment of Auditor. His Worship stated that in consequence of Mr Daly's resignation, the appointment of another auditor would be necessary, and the final consideration of the matter was adjourned to next meeting. The Council then adjourned till the next regular meeting.
