THE RUSSO-TURKISH WAR.
London, Feb. 20. Negotiations are proceeding respecting the occupation of Gallipoli. The twenty-third European Conference on the Eastern question assembles in a fortnight. The Chancellor of the Exchequer, in * reply to a question, said that Russia had undertaken not to occupy Gallipoli, and it was probably that an additional assurance would not be required, , .
(SPECIAL TO THE MELBOURNE " ARGUS.) London, Feb. 21. Recruiting is. going ou actively. The Government is purchasing 20,000 horses for the army. The army estimates show an increase of four millions and fifty thousand pounds. Nautyk Pasha goes on a special mission to St, Petersburg to obtain a ♦ modification in the terms of peace, some of which are considered too harsh. Server Pasha has been dismissed from the Foreign Office. m^ Lord Derby and Sir Stafford Northcote announced in. Parliament that England and Russia had agreed that neither should occupy Gallipoli or Boulair, or land troops on either side of the Hellespont. England will be represented at the Conference in the same way as the other Powers. Sulieman Pasha has been courtmartialled.
