ORIGINAL POETRY.

Pekpfn , Thro , thk Window. Come all ye Akaroa mm, whoiver ye may he, Ihopeye'Jl pay attiniion, and listen unto me; A sacrate grate about the State Oil whisper to ye now—■ The kouneilors are at it hot, the bhoys have had a row. The wiee mm had assimbled for their fortnightly seance, One nite whin me and Mike, ye know, were strollin' near by chance, Whin, by my sowl I heard a growl; " Och Mike," says, I, " bow-wow, Faix, here's a lark — come in the dark, there's goin' to be a row." We crawled up to the window, as we could not find the door, And there we listhened to thim, as we'd oftin done afore. " Whist, Pat," says Harry—" bad scran to ye, keep quiet if you plaise." " Oil spake as long as 'oive a moind," my noble Pat he says— "No pans you must not ordher, for it I won't allow," "Arrah Mick," says I, "Pat's in it, he manes to biv a row." Och! tare and ages, had ye hirrd the ruction that was there ;' Aitch Kouncilor's noble forehead was crimsoned wid dispare ; His Worship and these lirnid rnin faught, faix I can't till you how, But arguments were all the go, I think I hear thim now. Sum of the bhoys they did subjue wid thare connivin tricks. There shinin lite, the Town Clerk bould, that Prince of Polly-fe&s, That ship of State won't travel like whin Garge was at the prow ; She's makin' stirnway fast, my bhoys, I no there'll be a row. Then come my bould Akaroaites, the time is drawin' near Whin this young burrough should go abed, but it's lookin' moighty queer.
