IA LEXA ND X R IN NE S , McGREGOH, Reluming Officer for the Borough of Akami, , hwby give notice, that in conformity with the provisions of the " Municipal Corporations Act 1876" and the Rcfulniion of Local Elections Act, 1876," the Annual Election of a Mayor for the Borough of Akaroa, under clauses 51 and 52 of the above first recited Act, will be held at the offices of the Council, Lavaud-street, Akaroa, on WEDNESDAY, the 28th day of November current. The Nomination of Candidates, which must be made in the manner provided in clause 11 of the second recited Act, will take place at the said Borough -Council offices, at noon, on FRIDAY, the 23rd day of November, and the POLL (if necessary) will be taken at the said offices, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 6 p.m., on WEDNESDAY, the 28th day of November, 1877. ENTLEMEN,—I have respectOγ fully to solicit your VOTES and INTERESTS at the forthcoming election for the office of Mayor of this Borough, for which office I am a candidate. I have now been a resident of Akaroa for thirty-seven years, and during the whole of my long residence here, have always taken a part in all public matters tending to advance the interests of the borough and district. My actions in public business have always been dictated by considerations for the public good, and not for personal aggrandisement in any shape or form ; this, my actions in the lato Provincial Council, on the original Works Committee, on the Road Board, and in the Borough Council, will abundantly show. If elected, I promise to give every attention to the duties of my office ; to act with thorough impartiality on all matters concerning the borough's weal ; to do my utmost in furtherance of tlie business of the borough, and to, in every way that I possibly can, work for its ultimate good.
