AT a meeting of the Akaroa Borough Council, held the 14th day of November, 1877, Robert Noonan, Painter, Akaroa, who had been elected Captain of the Akaroa Hook and Ladder Fire Brigade Company, was appointed FIRE INSPECTOR of the said Borough, in terms of clause 272 of " The Municipal Corporations Act, 1876," and the powers granted to Fire Inspectors by clause 274, sub-sections 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 of the said Act, are hereby vested in the said Robert Noonan. My actions in public business have always been dictated by considerations for the public good, and not for personal aggrandisement in any shape or form ; this, my actions in the latn Provincial Council, on the original Works Committee, ou the Road Board, and in the Borough Council, will abundantly show. If elected, I promise to give every attention to the duties of my office ; to act with thorough impartiality on all matters concerning the borough's weal; to do my utmost in furtherance of the business of the borough, and to, in every way that I possibly can, work for its ultimate good.
