Market quotations.—Flour, colonial, £15 ; hams 9d ; bacon, 8d ; cheese, 7|d ; potatoes, 25s to 35s per ton ; new potatoes, lis 2d per cwt; and butter, 7dto Bdperlb. Nelson, November 15. A largely attended public meeting was held in the Provincial Hall last night, to consider the present political situation. The Mayor occupied the chair. The following resolutions were carried almost unanimously :— " That, in the opinion of this meeting, the interests both of the Colony and the district would be best served by Parliament giving Sir George Grey a fair trial." " That, in the opinion of this meeting, in the present; disorganised state of the House of Representatives, owing to parties being so evenly balanced, an appeal to the people is the only satisfactory and constitutional course." " That copies of the foregoing resolutions be forwarded to the City Representative and Sir George Grey." It was moved, as an addition to the first resolution, that the words—" So that the charge made against Government may be proved, or disproved, this Session be inserted." This was rejected, c-nly six supporting it. Christchurch, Nov. 15. Crops still suffering from want of rain. Late sown wheat on light landsnearly ruined, but early wheat generally still looking well. Potatoes have been j seriously damaged by frost.

Annual session Grand Lodge Good Templars will he held at Timaru, commencing second Tuesday in December. Dunedin, Nov. 15. Further experiments made with dynamite, show that it is cheaper than blasting powder. Members of the Anglican body have expressed a wish that Bishop Neville should attend Anglican Synod. ' .
