SnkEP, —Prime cross-breds in the wool realised from 16s to 17s each ; good do from 15s to loa 6<\; second do from 13s to 14s. Prime quality cross-breds, shorn, brought from lis to Hs9d ; good do, from 9s Gd to 10s 3d ; second, from 7s Gd to Bs. Several p<ms of good quality merinos, shorn, realised 6s 9d and 7s each ; do in the wool, lis 3d. We quote as an average for fat mutton IJd per lb, shorn, and 3d per Ib in the wool. Cattli:. —Prime bullocks realised £14 per head ; good do, from £12 to £12 15s ; lighter weights from £9 to £11. We quote a shade upwards of 30s per lOOlbs, as an average for beef. The usual supply of stores came forward, and for good dots prices ranged from 5s to 10s in advance, of last week's rates. -\
Messrs 11. Matson and Co. report on the ; livestock market, &c, for the week ending Friday, November 2, as follows:—At the Addincjton S.y.EYAUDs on Wednesday last 9847 sheep, 278 bend of cattle, and 25 pigs comprised the total entry. Our entries for (lie day comprised 6568 sheep and 210 head of cattle. Cattle —10 head prime quality heavy weight steers at £14 5s ;10dodo at £12,10 do at £12 7s 6d to £12 15s ; 3 fat heifers at £12, 4 do at £10 to £10 I2s Gd ; 2 do steers at £10 ; 4 do at £8 ; 3 do at £8 ; 2 do at £9 12s Gd ; 4at £8 10s; 4 at £8 ss. Stores—s at £6 7s 6d; 8 at £4; 13 at £3 3s; 6 at £4 10s to £5; 12 at £6 12sGd ;15at£310s; 5 at £4 17s; 2 at £7 os, and sundry others at average market values. In sheep >ye sold 900 merino wethers (a few crossbreds) out of their wool at 6s Gd, 8s 9d, to 7sfor merinos, to 10s 3d for cross-breds ; 72 cross-bred wether:; at 17s 180 crossbred do at 14s Gd ; 146 merino do at 9s 3d ; 43 cross-bred (shorn), 7s -yd ; GO do do, at lis ; 125 shorn merinos (stores) at 4s 6d ; 220 merino wethers at 10s 9d ; 74 cross-breds do at 14s Gd ; 60 Down wethers out of wool at 13s ; 280 mixed cross-breds and merinos (shorn) at 8s to 9s 6d ; 100 at 9s Gd to 9s 9d ; 70 at 9s 3d to lis'; 168 shorn hoggctts at 7s 6d ; 328 merino wethers at 7s Gd ; 681 do at 7s 3d; 68 cross-bred ewes at 13s Gd ; 70 mixed cross-breds and merinos at 16s 6d to 17s 3d; 299 mixed cross-breds at lis; 700 shorn hoggetts (very inferior) at 4s to 4s Gd ; ewes and lambs (various lots) at from 6- : , 10s Gd to 16s Gd per couple ; fat lambs at fivm 5s Gd, inferior to 9s Gd for average .quality. Wool. Sheep.ssins, Hides, and Tallow.—At the weekly sale held at our Cashel ' street stores on Thursday, we cainlogued 3160 skins, including 2550 woolly do, 315 pelts, and 295 lambs do, 74 hides, 70 bags rough fat and tallow. Best butchers cross-breds inado 6s 6d, 6s 8d ;to6s 3d ; merino do, ss, 5s 4d, to 5s 10d ; inferior, 4s, 4s Gd, to 4s lOd. Best, merinos in largo line, 5s 6d, 5s Bd, to 5s lid ; second do, 4s 3d, 4s 9d, to 5s 3d. Inferior and country skins sold well, according to description. Rough Fat.—Best, 2jfd, 2£d, to 3d per lb ; second quality, 2d. 24d, 2-*-.1 to 2fd per lb. Hides. —Salted ; green, Bgd ; calf, 6.} d, per lb.
Canterbury Horse Market.—At Tatterpall's, on Saturday last, our catalogue comprised 142 horses of various descriptions, the bulk being composed of superior draught stock, unbroken do. the balance being made up of harness horses, hacks, and tbe usual assortment of light hacks, weeds, &c. A superior grey mare fell for £107 10s ; oilier superior draughts at £'i 5, £55, to £65 ; medium do, £30 to £40; unbroken do, £25, £35 to £42; light do, £16. £18. to £27 10s ; hacks and harnci's horses, £25 to £35 ; ordinary do, £15 to £20. There is a great" want of superior hacks and harness geldings, and a consignment of such would meet with a good, reception, and command good values, the class of horse as bred in Canterbury being too smalj, and possessing.,. neither bone, KidsMtjiric, nor breeding, attempts at alteration htthis direction falling very far short of what is being done towards improving the. strength and stability of draught and horses calculated for farm purposes, the .appreciation of. which has been shown -by-the high prices thoy have commanded of-late.
