OKAIN'S BAY ROAD BOARD.

The ordinary meeting of the above Board was held on Saturday, October 27, at the Library, Okain's Bay. Present— Mr J. B. Barker (Chairman), Messrs Boleyn, Webb, Pawson, and Sefton. The minutes of last meeting having been iead and signed, the Chairman informed the Board that since their lasi meeting he had had certain necessary repairs done to the Cow road, Little Akaloa. • correspondence. A letter was read from the Church Property Trustees, giving the Board permission to make a road through section No--90, Little Akaloa. • From Mr Moffatt, calling the Board's attention to the urgent necessity of the Valley road, in Laverick's Bay, being opened up, Mr Webb speaking strongly in favour of it. If was resolved that tenders be invited for forming about 20 chains of road in Laverick's Bay Valley, the road to be half j a chain wide. It was also, resolved that tenders be invited for repairing road from Stoney Bay to Little Akaloa. After discussing the resolutions passed at a meeting held in Le Bon's Bay, on Saturday, October 20, the Board approved of the following works : —From the clay cutting downwards to below Hartston's, £70; extending road up Main Valley, £100 ; making part of road below Hall's in Pig Gully, £20. The question of repairs to the German Bay road was ordered to stand over for tbe present. The Clerk was instructed to write to Mr Montgomery respecting the many road diversions in the district, and the numerous claims for compensation arising out of the same ; also, to write to Mr Fenton on the matter of surveys. Tenders were then opened for the Stony Bay road, and one from Mr Herbert Sefton, for the sum of £347 4s 6d, was accepted. PAYMENTS. Accounts were examined and passed for payment, to the amount of £147 5s 6d. The Board then adjourned.
