POLITICAL TELEGRAM.

(FROM OUR SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT.) Wellington, October 15

New Ministers sworn in this afternoon to following--offices —Grey, Premier and Colonial Secretary ; Maeandrevr, Lands and Works ; Larnach, Treasurer and Stamps ; Sheehan, Native and Justice. Fisher, Postmaster General and Telegraph. Whitmore refused to join. . INTERPROVINCIAL TELEGRAMS. (From the Press Agency.) Wellington, 9.30, p.m. October 15. Sir George Grey made a long Ministerial statement in the House. The finances of the colony, since their taking office, were found to be worse than anticipated. Only £38,000 left of £100,000 granted the other day. Government would shortly apply to the House for another Imprest supply. The work of retrenchment would be made by cutting down Ministerial salaries. As the assets of the colony were so good, financial pressure could be only temporary. They hoped, by changing mode of administration, to economise expenditure, - and by this means to carry on public.works more vigorously than heretofore. They proposed to close session early, by dropping bills likely to cause discussion. Would carefully consider Canterbury Land Fund question so as to satisfy all parties. Intended to prepare measure for amended representation of colony, placing it on fairer basis. The speech was received with applause.
