RESIGNATION OF MINISTERS
Wellington, October 9. In consequence of the division on Mr Larnach's want of confidence motion last night, Ministers have this morning tendered their resignation to his Excellency the Governor, and advised him to send for Mr Larnach. In compliance with a request to that effect, Mr Larnach waited on his Excellency, and being asked to undertake the formation of a Ministry, requested twenty-four hours in which to consult his friends. This his Excellency was graciously pleased to accord. The House is accordingly adjourned till 7.30 p.m. on Friday. l '* October 11> -10.30 p.m. Larnach unable to form a Ministry. At a meeting of members of the Opposition party to-day, Sir George Grey was chosen leader, with promise of support from the majority for the remainder of the session. If he forms a Ministry, some of the members would not promise support. A Ministry will probably be formed, but it is not likely any Canterbury men will join, though some of them will give support.
