[Reutek's Telegrams to the Pkess agency.] September, 24. Plevna, is nearly surrounded by the Russian forces. Hafiz reached Dubrick with supplies. The convoy was attacked by 15 battalions of Russian infantry and three regiments of cavalry, but they were defeated, according to the Turkish account.
Sulieman Pasha renewed the assault at Fort Nicholas, Shipka Pass, last Friday, but without success. Twenty thousand Turks have been sacrificed in, , the various altcavps to take the pass.
The Herald's special of the 24th, says : —The accounts of last Friday's fightingat Biela wero greatly exaggerated. The Turks admit the action was indecisive. An attack was- made upon the Russian entrenched positions at Chnrkioy and Cherkovna, commanding , the main.road to Biela ■which was successfully repulsed,, the Czarevitch receiving large reinforcements. Osman Pasha lias been urged to make a sortie, in order to effect a junction of the two forces. Bombay, September 24. A Russian official despatch says that the Turks resximed the bombarding of the Nicholas redoubt, and then assaulted it unsuccessfully. Fighting continues in Asia. General Tergugassoff defeated Ismail Pasha with great loss. A Turkish official despatch says that a large Turkish convoy of ammunition is within two hours' march of Plevna. The result of the fighting at Biela is still indecisive. [special telegram to the dunedjn :" STAR. ' Loddon, Sept. 27—Night. Mehemet Ali totally defeated the Czarewitch at Biela, '' The Russians lost 12,000 killed, and 2000 prisoners. There has been desperate fighting, with varying success, before Plevna. The total defeat of Osman Pasha is looked for unless support is given him. London, Sept. 24. The inquest on the bodies washed ashore from the Avalanche has terminated. The jury returned an open verdict.
