STOCK AND STATIONS.

At the Sale-yards, on Wednesday, 4472 sheep and' 540 head of cattle were yarded. In fat sheep the prices niled from a shilling to eighteen pence in advance of our late quotations. Prime quality fat crossbreds reached 19p ; good, from 17s to 17s 6d ; second do, from 15s to 16s. A very large supply of i'ai merinos came forward ; best quality sold at 13s 3d ;'good do, 11s; second do," 10s and 10s 6d. We quote 3d per lb as an average for fat mutton. The bulk of the cattle consisted of good quality stores. A very small proportion of fat ftock came forward, which consisted of very medium quality, and changed hands at about 32s 6d per lOOibs; stores sold fully up to last week's quotations.

Mataon and Co. report on the live stock market, &c., for the weekending Friday, Sept, 21, as follows: —At the ApniNGTON Market Yards on Wednesday 54.0 head o± cattle, 4472 sheep, and 87 pigs were penned off for the week's supply. The number of both fat cattle and sheep to hand being limited, a rise of 10s per head on the former, and Is, Is 6d, to 2s per head on the latter, was obtained, extending to even 2s 6d per head advance on best cross-breds ; whilst 36s per lOOlbs may be. quoted as average price of beef. In cattle there was a very large entry of various descriptions. Our entry for the day comprised 369 head of cattle, 2317 sheep, and 87 pigs. In cattle our principal sales were 239 head of stores at from £3 10s, £4 11s 6d, £5 18s 6d to £7 12s 6d, according to agea and description ; 16 head of light weight fat steers and heifers the former making £9 to £11 10a ; heifers, £8 12s 6d each : 20 head of mixed cows at from £5 17s 6d to £7 ; 7 head at £6 ss. £8 5a to £9 5s ; 11 head at £7 5s ; 8 at £8 log, £9 7s 6d to £11 10s, and various minor entries at average quotations. In sheep, our sales were 20l cross-breds and merinos from 8s Gd to 13s ; 681 do at from 7b to 13s ; 119 hoggetts at 12s ; 45 crossbreds at 14s ; 360 do at from 18s, 14s 6d to 16s ; 107 prime cross-bred wethers at from IGs to 19.^; 115 merinos at 10s 6d to 11s ; 233 cross-breds at from 14s 6d to 16s &d ; 237 merinos at 13s 3d ; 108 crossbreds at 7s Gd ; 51 do at 13s ; 135 merinos •At 9s 6d ; at 12s 6d, and sundry small lines at market, values. In pigs we disposed of the whole of the entry to hand, numbering 87, at from 12s, 18s. to 2{>s, and from 375, 455, to 55s each. Outtide wo have sold a line of 1700 store .-•leiino wethers at 7s 3d, as also a line of n'JO merino ewes, in lamb to "long w0015, ,, tit 7s 9d nsr bead. Wool, Sheepskins, JJiHES,- Tallow, &c. —At the ordinary weekly sale of the above at our avool storey on Thursday la«t, we catalogued 2620 sheepskins, 74 bngs of rough fat and tailovv, 70 hides. 158 doz rabbit skins, and 25 ewt of g!ne pieces, the whole of which found buyers at satisfactory and even allies : best butchers' cross-breds pkias in bu'k at 6s 9d, 7s, to 7a Id ; second do, tin 4d to 6s 8d : medium, 5s 9d to 6s; ordinary, ss, 5.s 6d, to 5s 8d ; inferior, 4s Gd ; best merinos. 5s 6d. 5s 7d, to 5s 9d ; soconds, 4s 8d to ss; country skins and modisim butchers' 4s to 4a 8d ; ordinary Hominai hides, salted, ; green, 3|d ; calf, 6£d , -lb; glue pieces, Id per lb; rabbit sk.' . 3s per dozen ; best rough fat to 3d per lb ; ordinary, medium, to good 2£d, 2£d, to 2Jd per lb, with keen competition ; cask tallow, 28s per cwt. At Tattehsall's, on Saturday last, 76 horses were entered for the day's sale. The demand for good draught stock lias been great for some time past, and on Saturday the competition was even more vigorous; best descriptions, sold fr;>m £45 to £50,—£55 to £60 each, whilst unbroken stock of equal quality realised proportionately high value;-;. At auction and privately during the week, we have soil s-evtral entires at from 50 guineas, 97 guineas, 100 ginucas. to 225 guinea.-; each. Good hacks from £25 to £32 ; ordinary hiul inferior light do. and harness horses, £14, £18, to £22 ; weeds, £8, £12, down to £5 each.
