At' the Saleyards on Wednesday 2799 sheep a'h'd 441 * head of cattle came forward. In slvep the biddings were animated for ."•ood-ruiaVty. lots. Best merinos realised 15s each--: Viod'-froin 13s to 13s 6d each. The qualify of the-eross-breds was not so good a.-? on former occasions ; best lots reached 17s•; ffood do 16s to 16s 6d ; others (light v/tight:--.) from 'lis to 13s * one line of --■tore merino wethers realised 5s 6d each. The bulk of the cattle consisted of some ■■ reolW good lines hi fat stock. Best bullocks brought from £16 to £17 10s each ; croo:! do, from £12*> £13, Several prime .- lots not reaching the owner's reserve were • passed in. We quote upwards of 30s per ' iOOlbs as an average for beef. Messrs-T-T. Marson and Co report on the Land, and Live Stock Market, for the week ending Frday,' Sspfc 14, as''follows :—At the Papanui Market on Tuesday last, 35 cattle. 800 sheep were entered for the week's sale. Values were obtained for all lots to hand, best cross-breda 14s, best merino 9s 9d per head ; store cattle realised full values.—At the AddwgtoS':Yahds on Wednesday, 441 head of cattle, 2799 sheep, and ! t2 uigs comprised the entry for the day. Our entries for tho day .were 298 head of cattle, IGSO sheep, and' 117 pigs. In Cattle our principal lines were:—22 head, at £12, £13 5s to £16 10s ; N 20 head light weights, at £10 10s to £1.1 ; 20diead, nT£lo' 5* to £11 per head;. 9 head, at £10 15s ; 32 head, at £3 lis. 37 head, at £5 7s M, £5 12s Gd to £6 12s Gd ; 13. at £4 2s ; 54 head at £3 16s per head, and 6 at £5 10s and sundry odd lots, for various owners, at'market quotations. In' Sheep our sales were limited to ordinary quality, for which we obtained : 539 shorn Jambs; •-Berv superior, ntl3s to 13s 6d ; 147 merino •Whors at lis to lis 3d ; 132 hoggets at 9s ; 238 merino wethers at 6s 3d to 9s.per head ; and sundry small lots at quotations. ff« pigH we cleared our entrj' of 117 at 9s, 14s, 15s 6d to 25s to 33s each.
