After four days cannonade Levusea Redoubt before Plevna taken by Russians with heavy slaughter. Five thousand Russians wounded ; killed not estimated. Plcvha still held by Turks. . Sulieman Pasha advancing on Gambrova. Czar with army driven back on Beila by Mehemet Ali. Independence of Roumania proclaimed by Prince Charles, whose forces, commanded by him, behaved wifh great gallantry before Plevna. Forty of his officers and privates decorated by Czar present at battle on platform. Metasch taken by Montenegrins, with battery of guns and war materials. Turks killed almost all prisoners. People in valley near Plevna thrash their corn in open air, shells flying over their heads Bombay, 14th Great fight at Plevna, on 11th Russians captured four redoubts, which th«y occupied on morning of the I2th / Russian loss, included two killed, one wounded. _/ Agent-General has advised sailing of Rakaia with 293 immigrants for Canterbury.
