STOCK AND STATIONS.
At the Addington Saleyards on Wednesday. 3551 sheep and 351 head of cattle were yarded. In fat sheep the biddings for prime quality were more animated, and prices ruled nearly a shilling per head higher than at last week's sale. Best cross-hreds brought 18tS; good do, from 15s fir! to 16s 6d ; second do, from 13s to 14s 9d. Fair quality merinos brought from 10s to 10s 6d each ; indifferent quality sold at from 8s 3d to 8s 9d each. W=3 quote 2fd per lb as an average for mutton. Tho bulkj of the cattle consists of three patts fat young cattle the greater portion of which changed hands at upwards of 32s 6d per lOOIbs; two-year-old mixed stores brought from £6 5s to £6 12 each ; three-yoar-old do from £7 5s to £8 perhead. The land sales on thursday amounted to 6648 acres aR follows: —Ashley, 136 ; Seiwyn. 803 ; Akaroa, 191 ; Ashbnrton, 4161 ; Geraldine, 757 ; Waiinate, 600 ;— realising £13,296. Messrs 11. Matson and Co. report on the live stock market, &c, for the weekending Tivirsday, Sept. 6, as follows: —At the Canterbury Saleyards Wednesday 351 head of cattle, 3551 sheep, and 117 pigs comprised the entry for the week. Our sales were 222 head the principal lines being 45 head of heifers at £6 10s, 11 at £7 2s 6(1, 10 at £7 sa. 20 at £3 11s, 20 at £5 15s, and beef up to £11 15s; the fat cattle to hand being the most inferior yarded during the season. In sheep our enHes comprised 2153 first cross-bred Aethers, up to 18s per head, and merinos at. 10-- fid ; cross-breds at 13s 3d to 14s 3d: our sales being xor the day, 270 cross-breds, at 15s 6d to 18s ; 200 merinos, ;-it 10m, 10s 3d, to 10s 6d ; 319 cross-bred wethers, at 13s 3d ; 60 hogsretts, at 10s 6d ; 175 shorn lambs, at 9s 9d (these were very superior) ; 224 shorn do, 7s s)d ; 154 mixed, 10s 3d ; 200 cross-breds, at 13s 6d ; 300 at 13s 3d ; and sundry lines at market quotations- In pigs we sold 75 at from 5s to 30s, according to quality. Outside we have sold 3500 of the Waknnni merino wethers at 7s 3d per head. Wool, Sheepskins, Hides, Tallow.—At our weekly sale, held on Thursday last, at our stores, 2041 sheepskins, .60 hides, 45 bags of rough fat, and several casks and packages of tallow, comprised the entry. Best x-breds 6s lid, 7s, 7s 2d,to 7s 6d ; second. 5s 6d, 5s 9d to 6s, and 6s 6d each ; inferior, 4s 10d. 5* 3d to 5s (SA. Merinos, 5s 4d 5s 6d to 5s 11 each ; second, 4s to 4s 6d ; vary inferior, 3s 6d each. Country skins, 3s 6d to Gd'6'd, according to descriptions. Hr?es. Bfilt.adv4£d per lb green, 3£d ; calf, 6d per lb ; rough fat best, at 3d per lb ; second 2& to per lb ; very inferior, 2jd ; tallow, ordinary, 28s per cwt. 'TatTeksall's.—72 horses were entered for last Saturday's sale, including several eniirea, the season's hunters, draught stock, ~&c, of which we placed thfi largest proportion at good values, and quote prices KT.&iterwc!, witii a large and increasing de--"uv.d for good sound animals.
