ST. PETER'S VESTRY REPORT.

■"It was very unpleasant for him.to allude . to these matters, but he thought the <& Parish ought to know exactly how matters stood."

TO THE EDITOR OF THE AKAROA MAIL. „,. Slß,—The above is an extract from your report of the vestry meeting - published in your last issue. I have read the whole paragraph through several times carefully, and, although generally" ambiguous, it clearly contains an inuendo that I have done something wrong. lam really sorry that Mr Cooper has raked up this matter, and partially submitted it to public criticism. In justice to himself, as well as me, he should now give the other side of the •question, and leave those interested an opportunity of seeing who is right and who is wrong. As he has thought " the parish ought to know how matters stand," he can make no objection to this. If his memory fails in particulars, I shall be glad to refresh it. The sentiment that the "parish ought to know," is as between minister and parish a very good one. I should like to see it more general regarding all church details, ergo the parishioners would have -lost nothing had they known beforehand the subject and its handling of last Sunday evening's discourse. would have been absent. Certainy I would not have taken my own family had I been -warned of what was coming. .

Yours truly,

LATE PARISH CHURCHWARDEN
