ELECTION OF COUNCILLORS.

TO THE EDITOR OF THE AKAROA MAIL,

Sir, —May Ij through the columns of your valuable paper, suggest to the future elect of the borough, the necessity of their placing more dependence upon themselves in matters pertaining to borough business, and depending less upon the Town Clerk in all such affairs. I have no doubt that the Town Clerk is a thoroughly competent officer; but, is it not possible to overwork, a .willing horse, or. perhaps get into a-iiabit of being led instead of leading ?—I am, yours, b - A BURGESS.
