LOCAL OPTION.

TO THE EDITOR OF THE AKAROA MAIL. Sin, —I see by a notice posted outside the B. M. Court, • Akaroa, the peace and quiet of the neighbourhood of Okain's Bay is threatened with —that above all things least desired— a Public-house. Often in my visits to that quiot little bay have I envied, in some respects, the inhabitants, for the peace and quietness that prevails. I luve always found the settlers most hospitable, and, although at the time a comparative stranger, bed and board were always freely profered me. I trust the inhabitants on this occasion will speak out their minds boldly, not arrogantly, and if I mistake not, the Bench will take into consideration their desires, and not grant a license where one is not required. Yours, &c, TEMPLAR.
