TENDERS.

TO THE E6lt6li OF THE AKAROA MAIL. Sib,—Seeing a letter appear in your issue of the 17th instant, and my name ■ looms in it, I tliiAlt it only fair that you should allow me space in your valuable columns to say a few words in contradiction to the statement made by Everell and Gunning, wnere they say my tender was accepted at sa. per yard. They cannot m know 'anything about it, as my tender was • only 3s. 6cl. per yard. I 'think if they read the report of tlie Eoad Board meeting in your Friday's paper; they will see each person's 'tended,, or the amount; they will also see their tender was informal, and Should have been sent in on the 27th of July, but did not go-in until the 31st. What would Mr Evjerell have thought if his tender liad gone in i:i time, aild miife four days late, and mine accepted because it was a paltry penny per yard less than his? I think lie would then have had s'onie reason to cough. I think surely contracts must be very scarce on Mr Everell's side of the range, or he cannot be giving very good satisfaction, or I am sure he might.pick up a job without coming to Akaloa.. am afraid the latter is his failing.—yours truly, THOS. PAWSON. Little Akaloa, August 20, 1877. {This must close the correspondence on this subject.—Ed. A.M.] -
