(Pkr Press Agency.) Auckland, August 21. The steamship Lionel "was wrecked while entering Whangape harbour, and five men were drowned. Nelson, August 21. Shares in the Queen Bee wreck Recovery Company, original price £50, are now selling at £320. Private letters have been received from Mr. Conway. Victoria, in which he states that the Australian cricket team, prior to departure for England, will visit Otago. His opinion is that they show as good cricket as the Britishers, and may be expected here about the middle of January. (from our own correspondent). August 22. It is reported that Tawhiao, the Maori King, has been invited to Wellington to aid Government in forming the Native Lands Court Bill, but that Tawhiao refused. A Maori forger has just absconded to the King country after cheating a number of tradesmen with forged cheques. He is being pursued, but' whether, the Kingites will allow him to be captured in the King territory is unknown.

The Queen Bee wreck inquiry . concluded to-day, when judgment was given to the following effect:—" 1. That there had been a want of proper navingation between the time of sighting the Spit light and the ship striking. 2. That there was culpable neglect in not using the lead. 3. That a bad look-out vas kept." The captain's certificate was suspended for three years, and the second mate's for six months. The Court considered that the first mate erred in judgment as much as the captain, but the responsibility lay with the latter and the second mate, who was the officer of the watch at the time of the wreck.
