LOCUM TENENS.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE AKAROA MAIL. Sir.—ln common with •. many other members of the Church of England in this place, I have to thank you for drawing the attention of our Church officials, to the paragraph in the Church News, presumably relating to the gentleman who succeeds the Rev. Mr. Cooper* in the cure of St. Peters. " A stitch in time" has, on this * occasion been taken, which has gone far in initiating- a feeling of true regard and respect tor Mr. Anderson even before his advent aii«uii<rst us. I have heard it expressed by some, that your remark at the foot of the paragraph, was injudicious and uncalled for, and this has led me to pen these few lines, with the hope that they may .find space in your columns, and that they may show that, far from being injudicious, your action in this matter has proved oi: the utmost service to the gentleman in question, and effected, as I feel sure you intended, a good result. Yours, &c, CHURCHMAN.
