PIGEON BAY ROAD BOARD.
August' 18', 1877.—Present: Messrs. Gillespie ■•(chairman), Hay, Pitcaithly, McKaj T , and Budua. 7 CORRESPONDENCE. From Colonial Secretary, asking the cost of valuation for the purpose of the assessment of this Bay. The Clerk was instructed to comply with the request. From -Mr. Joynt. solicitor, advising Board In reference to proposed road to Kay's Gully, It was resolved that the Chairman, when in Christchurch, should get advice in reference to having the dispute settled by arbitration. From Messrs. E. Goodwin and others asking, if the Board would give 2s. 6d. per chain towards clearing road from Mr. Mcintosh's house at top of hill, to the corner of section 22611,. distant about 40 chains. Resolved to accede to their request if they kept in the line of surveyed road. The Clerk was instructed to write to Chief Surveyor, asking that road be surveyed from Little Akaloa to Decanter Bay, through section 24211, and to follow the line known as Cuthbert's line, and thence from Decanter Bay to Mcintosh's. From Mr. Budua, stating his price for land required for new road would be £50, and that for Cross road, £30. Proposed by Mr. Pitcaithly, and seconded by Mr. McKay, that it be accepted. Resolved that the sections be at once surveyed. Tenders were opened for breaking 500 yards of metal: —Algie, 4s 3d, lower quarry, 5s 9d upper quarry; Dewar, 4s 8d lower quarry, 2s lOd upper quarry; McLarren, 4s lower' quarry, 2s lOd upper quarry; Holloway, 4s 9d for both; Brough, 6s for both. Proposed by Mr. Hay, and seconded by Mr. Budua, that Mr. McLaren's tender be accepted, and that 200 yards be broken at top quarry, and 300 yards at lower quarry.
