OKAIN'S BAY ROAD BOARD.
Saturday, August 4. Present—Mr Barker, (Chairman), Messrs. Boleyn, Sefton, Pawson, and Webb. CORRESPONDENCE. . A letter was read from the Colonial Treasurer, informing the Board that the sum of £983 18s 9d, had been paid into the Bank,- to the credit of the District Fund account. The Clerk produced the monthly statement of accounts, shewing the actual balanco in Bank at this date, to credit of. Board, to be £1,597 2s. A letter was read from Mr"; G. Sefton. Little River, informing the Board that, they had encroached on his section No 829, with the new road to jetty, Okain's Bay. ' The Clerk was instructed to reply to Mr. Sefton, stating that he must have bejefc misinformed in the matter. A letter was received from a number of the residents in Le Bon's Bay, ,requesting the Board to bench the remainder of the new road, leading from there to Okains. Also, an offer from J. Truman, to do the work at the same price as the former portion of the road, viz., 6d per chain. It was agreed to accept Mr. Truman's offer, and the Clerk was ordered to prepare specifications for the same. The Chairman mentioned that he had accepted a tender, (as be was requested to do at the last meeting) for benching road on Look Out Hill, at 8s for section No 1, and 10s for No 2 per chain, and that the work was being proceeded with. It was proposed by Mr. Boleyn, and seconded by Mr. Pawson, that the grant of 2s, received from tbe Paymaster on the 26th June last, be applied to the completion of the Cow road, Little Akaloa, the district furnishing the balance required. After some discussion, this ' was agreed to, Mr. Sefton being the only dissentient. It was then. proposed by Mr. Pawson, and seconded by Mr Boleyn that tenders be called for the completion of lower end of Cow road. The motion was agreed to. The following tenders were then opened for re-forming and metalling 80 chains of main road, Little Akaloa:—Thomas Pawson, £191; George Bennet, £252 ; George Ashton, £180; Everall and-Gunning, 4s 9d per yard ; A. White, 3s 5d per yard. It was proposed by Mr. Boleyn, and seconded by Mr. Pawson, that the tender of Thomas Pawson be accepted, the others being considered informal; PAYMENTS.
