POLITICAL TELEGRAM.
(from our own correspondent). Wellington, August 13, 8.30 p.m. The question of the Native Lands * Bill will be settled some way to-morrow. If vote were taken on Ballance's Amendment, Ministers would probably be beaten by a majority of four. It is understood Ministers will ask leave to withdraw Bill, with view of introducing another. This probably will be agreed to. Next question •of importance will be the incidence of taxation. Majority of members in favour of Woolcock's motion. No change in parties, but there are signs of commencement of organization among Opposition members.
