THE R. M.

- TO THE EDITOR OF THE AKAROA MAIL. Sir,—The letter signed A..N. Z., J.P.* which appeared in your issue of the 10th instant, is a fine example of the red-her-m ring being trailed across the scent. The expressions " stab in the dark," "ashamed of bantling," ■' unmanly proceedings," being extended to divert attention from the real object. The petition in question lies ' for signature at one of the most central business places in the town. The object with which the petition sets out is the principal of the periodical removal of all the R.M.s, as is the custom at home. Yours, &c, H. G. WATKINS.
