Russian reinforcements are hurrying across the Danube, making strenuous efforts to retrieve the disaster at Plevna. Sulimau Pasha is actively pressing the Russians, and Mehemet Ali is operating tn their rear at Plasgrad (Rasgrad?) The Turks are advancing from Osman Bazar to Plevna to join Osman Pasha. General Melikoff has been reinforced aad a battle is now raging. London, August 6. The Russians state their loss at Plevna at only 5000 men. Osman Pasha's forces have been reinforced, and are strongly entrenched at Plevna. The Russians are encamped six miles east from Plevna. Fighting is going on at Rasgrad. The Russians, after their defeat at Eski Saghra, retreated in disorder. Sulimau Bey occupies the Kambozha Pass. Hobart Pasha is cruising in fhe Black Sea. The expedition to the Caucasus is abandoned. The relations between Greece and Turkey are critical.
