THE R. M.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE AKAROA MAIL. Sir, —Rumour has it that a petition to the Minister of Justice, is being -surreptitiously hawked about Akaroa, for the purpose of obtaining signatures to it, praying for the removal of ths R.M. If this report be true, is it not a most unmanly proceeding ? Why should the father of the bantling be afraid of his offspring seeing the light of day ? If right be on the side of the aggrieved why want to battle for it in the dark, and stab a man in the back ? Treat the R.M. like a man, if he is objected to tell him so openly, and fearlessly, and not coward like, go attacking him clandestinely.—l am, &c., A.N.Z.J.P.
