TO THE EDITOR OF THE AKAROA MAIL.

Sib, —I was pleased, for severed reasons,, to see a letter that appeared in yc-ui* issue of the 27th ultimo, signed A. &.-H. Iv the first place, it was early new«,.,and was on a subject so important, that true churchmen were anxiously awaiting the result. The letter pointed at no one, was evidently not intended to do so, and was very temperate and properly worded. L have spoken to several persons superior in accomplishments to* what Oxon appears to be, and they have- told me they were very glad to see A. EL H.s letter written so opportunely, with such good news for the true Christian ; audi 4hat they Were also pleased to see the spirit with which it was written. Oxon notices the word " surplice" in* A. K. H.s letter being mis-spelt. The word "• alias" in Oxon's letter is also mis-spelt, but it would bo miserable satisfaction for me to chuckleover a thing which was evidently a printer's error. No man with a sense of honour ever does so. Oxon's letter is written with such bad* taste, with so many mistakes and insinuations, that I do* not suppose A.-X. EL would condescend to reply to it. Oxon does not realise the refreshing influence such a verdict from the EcclesiasticaL Court-must produce o_..the minds both, of the ministers and parishioners in thecase of the ministers, tending to allay and curb any feelings some may entertain of introducing their pet innovations, and on that of the parishioners, a reassuring that their feelings are respected, and the safety of their church established. I thank. A. K. H. for the trouble he has taken in watching the important proceedings in the Ecclesiastical Court, and in,giving usthe earliest information on the matter. Yours, &c.,,. ALPHA. [This must close the correspondence onthis subject.—En. A. M.]
