PIGEON BAY ROAD BOARD.
A meeting oi this Board was held on July 7. Present—Messrs. Gilleaple, (Chairman), Hay, Pitcaithly, and McKay. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. CORRESPONDENCE. A letter was read from Colonial Secretary, asking for a nominal roll of officers, employed in the service of the Board, with a return of their salaries. From Secretary for public works, requesting a return of the expenditure of the Board, for the year ending March 31st. From Treasury, Wellington, enclosing voucher for £32 12s. 4d., being subsidies of os. in the £, payable out of the Consolidated and Land funds. From Mr. Montgomery, stating, that if applied to, the Government would survey the proposed road from Pigeon Bay to Port Levy. From Mr. Nalder, stating that there is no road through Mr. Kirk's section, Decanter Bay. From Mr. Aslnvin, in reference to proposed road through Mr. Kirk's property, giving his opinion that the road already laid out would cost less to form, and would the Board get Mr. Donald to report on same. The Clerk was instructed to inform Mr Ashwin that they would form half, upon his doing the same. From "Mr: Marshall, tendering his resignation an member of the Board. From Messrs. E. Goodwin, and Mclntosh, asking permission to erect a post and rail fence gate on the north-east boundary of section 22611. Board decided not to interfere. From Mr. Cunningham, requesting the attendance of the Chairman at the conference of Chairman of Road Boards. The Board decided to pay expenses. From Clerk, asking for an increase of salary. Board decided to give £5 per annum. TENDERS. The following tenders were opened for falling a chain, and clearing 15ft road to Mclntosh Bay .— G. Kay, 25a. per chain ; J. Keenan. 165.; E. Butt, "loss. ; H. McHale, 13s. Gd. Upon Mr. Hay's proposal, McHales lender was accepted. Mr. Fleming, Chairman of Port Levy Road Board, had an interview in reference to the £1000 grant for opening the Pigeon Bay and Port Levy Road. Upon Mr. Hay's proposal, the Clerk was instructed to- ask Mr. Rolleston, and have it proposed and surveyed., Also, that the £100 be applied, for from the General government, and .placed in a separate fund to the credit of bothi Boards, the money not to be drawn without the sanction of both chairmen.'' ' ; ' Upon Mr. Fleming's proposal, it was agreed that the money be applied for the opening up of the Pigeon Bay and Port Levy road, between the termination of eacii Biir\-eye 1 line. Messrs. Gunning and Co. asked for £150 on contract. Upon Mr. Hay's proposal, it was agreed te give £100. A public meeting of ratepayerswaeheld
for the purpose of electing a member, in stead of Mr. Marshall, resigned. Messrs. Buduaand Litter were proposed and seconded. Upon a show of hands being given, Mr. Budua, 14, Mr. Litter, 2. Mr. Budua being therefore duly elected. No poll being called for.
