LITTLE RIVER ROAD BOARD.
The usual monthly meeting, of this Board was held at the office, Koituna, on Monday, 2nd instant. Present—-All the members. „ CORRESPONDENCE. A statement of receipts and expenditure, and also balance sheet was received from the South Wimakaieri Board of Conservators. A letter was received from.the Manager of the Union Bank, stating, that the Bank would be prepared to allow oj percent, on the daily minimum balance at credit of the Board. A circular was received from the Treasury, Wellington, requiring a statement of assets and liabilities of the Board on June 30. ■■■•■-. A telegram from the Colonial Treasurer, asking for valuation of the district for the year ending March 31, 1876. From Mr. ftllivier, containing suggestions with reference to keeping accounts. From Mr. A. McPhail, asking the Board to make a bridle track from his property to Mount Bossu. From Mr. R. A. Forbes, Tai Tapu, certifying that certain drain' pipes applied for and supplied by the Board hud been placed to the satisfaction of all parties concerned. The Clerk reported that he had a quantity of road metal carted where required at Little River, and also at Sally's Bay and Ahuriri, but that the road ,waS, as -Usual at this season, in a very bad state generally ; also, that the residents at Little River who had promised to subscribe to certain work in Port Levy Valley had, now the work was completed, refused to do so. With reference to the offer of the Union Bank, the Board decided to accept the terms for the present. A statement of assets and liabilities of the Board on the 30th ult. was signed and duly forwarded to the Treasury. With reference to the telegram from Colonial Treasurer, requiring valuation of district to March 31, 1876, it was intimated that the return asked for had been forwarded to the Treasury in November last, and that it had reached its.destination was proved by the fact that the Board, had received three-fourths of the subsidy on the rates collected for the year ending on the date named.
The Clerk was directed to acknowledge the receipt oii. Mr. Ollivier's circular, with thanks. Also,.to inform Mr. McPhail that to comply w.itlj his request is impossible at present; the Christchurch and Akaroa road absorbing all available funds. The contracts on the margin of Lake Ellesmere being at a standstill on account of the rising of the lake, it was concluded to advertise for tender's for letting-out the lake, and also Lake,Forsyth. It was resolved that a written authority be handed, to the police authorities to proceed against all parties poluting the streams in the district by allowing sawdust and other rubbish to get into them. A bonus of £5 was handed to Foxcroft and Davis, for the workmanlike manner in which they had completed their contract on the main road crossing Kaituna flat, on the south side of the creek. Sundry payments were made prior to adjournment.
