Major Pender has received a telegram from the Sergeant of Police at Waimate, stating that a man named Daniel Quarrie had admitted having killed his mother in Oamaru yesterday. The police are making inquires regarding the truth of the confession. "Wellington, June 21. j The following message has just been received by the Government from the Agent-General, dated London, June 21. The Russian left, wing gained a victory at Delhi Baba in Armenia. The Turkisn killed are reported to number 1000, and 450 were mie prisoners. The Russians are about to cross the Danube, and an important battle is hourly ■expected.
