It is understood that Ingerwersen, deputy keeper of Mount View Lunatic Asylum, has levanted, leaving . a large number of creditors.
Auckland, May 14. A meteor, like a globe of fire, passed over the city this morning. Some quartz specimens, sent by Grey from Kawau for analysis, yielded at rate of about 6 dwts. per ton. t Kaiuma, from Wellington to Kaipira, put into Raglan dismasted. She *" had a very narrow escape. The Star authoritatively denies the rumour of Grey's intended retirement.
