The Akaroa Mail. TUESDAY, MAY 8, 1877.

The ease of Watkins v. Adams, which occupied two days in hearing, and was not o-jru'lsided till late on Saturday evening, excited the greatest possible interest s.moiig ail classes of the community. On both days the Magistrate's Court was crowded to suffocation, while groups ,of r.p.isons hung about the asurt-house each day. On no former occasion, we believe, has a case created so "inch excitement. In consequence of the -'nk'rct evinced, and the inability of so Miarjy to hear the proceedings, we have gk-.n a verbatim report of the whole case, !iitlK , 'i:>-!i, in order to do so, we have been obliged to hold over our report of other cases, and much interesting matter. The case was ably conducted on both sides. As .onie points have yet to be decided, and le information is still sub judice, we re- : ■,ii:rai') from making any comments upon the case. The deepest sympathy is felt for Mr. Adams under the very trying cirouuibiances in which he is placed.
