TO THE EDITOR OF THE AKAROA MAIL.

Sir, —We noticed in your issue of March 27th, that at a meeting of the Akaroa and Wainui Road Board, that Mr. Duxbury, in his explanation in reference to O'Grady and party having failed to come forward and sign their contract, states that Gunning and Co., and O'Grady were one and the same party. We beg to state that we have never seen or known O'Grady ; consequently his remarks are entirely untrue ; and we hope that Mr. Duxbury will, in future, keep to the truth in his comments to the Board and not be the means of misleading the public.— We are, &c., GUNNING & CO.
