OKAIN'S BAY.

Akaroa v. Okains

The return match between the Akaroa and Okain's Cricket Clubs, was played in Mr. Set"ton's paddock, Okain's, on Saturday last. The weather was beautifully fine, and judging from the large number of spectators present, great interest was manifested in the game. The toss beingwon by the captain of the Akaroa team, he sent his opponents to the wickets, which were pitched at half-past 10 o'clock, the Akaroaites taking the field. The fielding on the part of the Akaroa team was rather loose, several catches having been missed, while that of Okain's, was much admired, scarcely a chance being lost. Hayward and Ware batted well for their respective sides, having made top scores. At the close of the first innings both teams retired to luncheon, which was served up in capital style in the house of Mr. Sefton. Ample justice having been done to the supply of. refreshments, the match was again resumed, and at six o'clock, stumps were drawn, when the game was decided in favour of Akaroa by one run. The liberality displayed by the inhabitants of Okain's was shown in several cases, many of them prevailing on their visitors to prolong their stay. From all appearances, however, all seemed thoroughly satisfied with the day's amusement, and expressed their approbation of the good feeling that prevailed throughout the game.
