We have little change to report in this market, except that increased activity continues to be shown as farmers get through their harvest.' At the yards on Wednesday the large number of 8034 sheep were penned, and the attendance of buyers being good, bidding was fairly brisk considering the large number to be sold ; some prime cross-bveds reached lis. 9:1. A few pens of merino ewes made 6 r :. Gd, while fat ewes of the same breed sold for 4s. 3d. Best fat lambs sold for Ss. Gd. but lambs are nearly over for the season. Store sheep arc in good demand, and tanners nro eager buyers of good merino ewes at from 3s. to -is. 6d. for their stubbles and pastures, Our quotation for mutton, on the average, is 1J per ll'The number of cattle yarded was 356, and prices discloso little change. Stores continue in good demand. Our quotation for beef is 275. Gd. per IOOIbs. Pigs, as has been the ease lately, excited considerable attention, and ISS were sold at prices ranging from 7s. Gd. to 28s. Gd. Butter is offering, second hand, in large parcels at lid. to Hi-.,.without, however, meeting much support at the hands of purchasers. We attribute the decline to a withdrawal of Australian orders from this market. Cheese remains at last week's rates, with a, fair amount of business doing.
