LE BON'S BAY SCHOOL.

TO the editor of the akaroa mail. Sir, —The old adage, " while the cat is away, the mouse can play." I find that during the absence of the Chairman, the advocates of the master of the above school have had a warm meeting to consider the action of the Committee. As I ■am acquainted with the Chairman, I know that whatever steps the Committee have taken will be brought before the public, which I feel certain will be creditable to the Committee. I am, &c, SPECTATOR.

TO THE EDITOR OF THE AKAROA MAIL. Sir, —I noticed a letter signed "Ratepayer " in your columns of last week, and also a report of a ratepayers' meeting about the Leßon's Bay School. Your readers would conclude from the reports that the School Committee were just tools in the hands of the present chairman. lam obliged to them for one thing, that they acknowledge the abilities that our chairman proves as a leader, but allow me to inform them that in no way would the Committee be led by anyone, if they thought it would not benefit the school, and past experience tells us that as our chairman has the interest of the school at heart. The Committee feel confident that he will be able to inform the ratepayers and the public, that the steps taken by the Committee are for the interests of the school, and Mr. Thompson knows this, but backed up by those who care nothing for the character of the neighbourhood or credit of the school, they endeavour : to throw the whole blame on the chairman. Mr. Thompson forgets the late School Committee which took him without a character or testimonial. I am &c, A MEMBER OF SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

TO THE EDITOR OF THE AKAROA MAIL. Sir, —I am sorry Mr. Noonan has taken my mistake so much to heart, and I beg to offer him an apology. Instead of his name read Mr. Dalglish's. I am, &c, A.C.B.S.
